Children who attend Moomba Park Kindergarten are engaged in a play-based curriculum based upon children’s emergent interests. Both indoor and outdoor activities and experiences are carefully planned to enable each child to progress in their next step in learning. Our play based program, is free from gender bias and embraces our community’s rich cultural diversity. We encourage our children to engage in learning moments, to think and challenge their own understandings. Our educators support the ongoing learning cycle of observation, planning, implementation and reflection on the children’s play and we aim to continually reflect on better practices to best meet the diverse and changing needs of our community within the children’s program and to ensure that all learning and the transfer of information to our families is transparent and always encouraged and supported.

Philosophy

Moomba Park Kindergarten acknowledges our indigenous history and we give thanks to the prior owners of our land.  We are a dynamic and inclusive centre where we accept all children regardless of their race, gender, religion, cultural background or ability.  We embrace and educate for the inclusion of, and the diversity of our community. We facilitate learning in a nurturing and stimulating environment, where all children are respected and celebrated for who they are as individuals at their own level of development. We offer a child centered curriculum providing inquiry and agency based play spaces derived from the children’s interests and needs. We value respectful relationships and strive to ensure that all children, families and educators within our community feel valued, supported and important. In partnership with families, our goal is to provide a learning program that best caters for the individual needs of all children. Our teaching philosophy is based on the Victorian Early Years Learning Framework and reflects the National Early Years Framework – Belonging, Being and Becoming.  We are committed to developing each child’s strengths that correspond to the Learning Outcomes of the Victorian Early Years Framework. Our Aim – Using the children’s voices as a catalyst for our learning…this is what the Victorian Early Years Frameworks means to Moomba Park Kindergarten… “Our Place”.
