National
Quality
Framework

The National Quality Framework was introduced in 2012 to improve education and care within long day care, family day care, preschool/kindergarten, and outside school hours care services. The NQF governs and guides all these licenced services within Australia
The NQF includes:
  • National Law and Regulations
  • National Quality Standards
  • Assessment and Quality Rating process
  • National Learning Frameworks
Research shows that quality education and care early in life leads to better health, education and employment outcomes later in life. The early years are critical for establishing self-esteem, resilience, healthy growth and capacity to learn. Quality education and care shapes every child’s future and lays the foundation for development and learning.
There are two Frameworks that guide the development of the service curriculum and individual programs for children:
  • Being Belonging and becoming – National Framework
  • Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework – State Framework
Our teachers and educators are always more than willing to collaborate with parents in designing an educational program that meets parents expectations and needs. We also like to collaborate with children to find out what they would like from their kindergarten experience. After discussions with you and your child our professional teams will tailor an educational program based on the five outcomes in the Frameworks and your child’s progress with regards to their learning will be assessed, evaluated and discussed with you.
MEYM’s highly qualified and skilled teachers and educators develop and design programs that focus on the overall development of your child based on best practice.

National Quality Standards

The National Quality Standards set a high benchmark for early childhood education and care and outside school hours care services in Australia.
The NQS includes seven quality areas that are important outcomes for children.
Services are assessed and rated by their Regulatory Authority (Victoria – Department of Education and Training) against the NQS and given a rating for each of the seven quality areas and then an overall rating based on these results.
